Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act

The Australian Government wants international students in Australia to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding place to study. Australia’s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for international students; these laws are known as the ESOS framework.

Legislative Framework:
– Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000
– ESOS legislative framework
– ESOS Charges and Levies Acts
– National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students

The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 and its National Code of Practice regulate the delivery of education and training services to protect and enhance Australia’s international reputation, and provide consumer protection for international students. They also support the Migration Act 1958 by reinforcing students’ obligations under their student visas, and requiring institutions to monitor students’ compliance with their visa obligations.

To provide education and training services to international students the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar complies with rules and regulations required by the Australian Government and the National Regulator TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency). Additionally, the Seminar is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). CRICOS registration guarantees that the Seminar and the Advanced Diploma of Rudolf Steiner Education you are undertaking meet the high quality standards set out by the Australian Government; the Seminar’s CRICOS Provider Number is 01812M.

The Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar takes its ESOS obligations seriously, and endeavours to deliver quality educational services and to promote them in the most ethical manner possible. It monitors students’ compliance with their visa conditions and reports breaches to the Australian government.

Additional information on studying in Australia is available from the Department of Home Affairs website, StudyAustralia.

Tuition Protection Service
International students have recourse to the Tuition Protection Service (TPS), an Australian Government initiative that assists international students in the event that their education provider is unable to fully deliver their course of study. The TPS ensures that international students are able to receive a refund of their unspent tuition fees. Please refer to the Tuition Protection Service Brochure for further information.
